Research Topic

For my research topic, I'm choosing to write about soccer. I chose this topic because I've played soccer for most of my life and I'm very interested in it. Soccer was invented a very long time ago by some Chinese but this is skeptical because many cultures like Greece and Rome claim to have started the sport. This sport has grown into the most popular sport around the world and also my personal favorite. Every year, you see more and more soccer fields and leagues spring up in the U.S. due to its increasing popularity here. Soccer is a very high paying sport on the professional level. The professionals play for clubs. Every country has its own leagues but the major leagues that most people know about would be the MLS in the US, the EPL in England, the Bundesliga in Germany, and La Liga in Spain. These leagues (minus the MLS) contain the highest caliber of play in the world. If the players are good enough, they could get a chance to represent their country in international competition. There are many chances to play on a national team in several tournaments or friendlies. The largest tournament in the world is the World Cup. The qualifiers for this tournament include 204 teams from all over the world. This is narrowed down to only 32 of the best teams for the competition. Recently, the location for the World Cup in 2022 was picked. It was down to either the US or Qatar. Qatar was chosen for the location which made many of us mad because we felt the US would be a better choice.

Research Topics

The three research topics I chose for possibilities for my research paper are the Large Hadron Collider, Autism, and the World Cup.

The Large Hadron Collider, or LHC, is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator. It's located near Geneva, Switzerland. This is interesting to me because the purpose to create black holes by shooting atoms at each other.

Next, autism would be a interesting thing to research because I don't feel I know very much about it. I could discuss the signs, treatments, symptoms, and aspects of life for someone affected by it.

Finally, the last topic I could research is the World Cup. I could discuss the long history of this event as well as the many places it has been. Also, I could talk about the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and the advantages and disadvantages of this location.
